CHRISTIAN PATRICK CLARKE (Founder & Program Director)
Christian is the director of Bronx Loaf. He is a dean and teaches English at Brooklyn Technical High School. He has taught for 20 years in New York City, including 8 years at the Bronx Academy of Letters. He plans to continue teaching for the next 5-45 years, depending on a few things. |
LAURA MERCOGLIANO-CLARKE (Program Co-Director)
Laura is the Co–Director of Bronx Loaf. She taught literature and writing for 10 years in the Bronx and for 4 years at the Hommocks Middle School in Larchmont, NY. She is currently a freelance curriculum writer and mom/teacher to her two infant sons. She loves working with young people and is inspired by their creativity and energy. At Bronx Loaf, she organizes the conference, helping to plan the workshops, schedule, and activities. |
JOHN DOWNES ANGUS ( Director of Editing and Publishing)
John teaches 10th Grade ELA and 11th Grade AP English Literature at The Brooklyn Institute for Liberal Arts in East Flatbush. In March 2014, he left his two-and-a-half year-long career in book publishing to pursue a career teaching English, which is a change he’s very glad he made, and he carries that publishing start into the work he does with the Loafers. He’s helped produce the Bronx Loaf literary journal Breaking Bread since he was lucky enough to be included in this program back in the summer of 2015. He lives in Jersey City, America's Golden Door, and he’s eager to argue with you about Jersey's superiority to New York. |
